Problems with choosing cot bedding sets
I work for a magazine for first time parents. The magazine is quite popular and it sells very well every month. I am responsible for a column in which moms and dads ask for advice concerning parenting behaviour, baby products, food and so on. A couple of months ago, a young couple from London sent me an email in which they asked what kind of cot bedding sets I could recommend them. They had had several problems choosing the right type of bedding for their four-month-old son. He seemed to become easily irritated with anything that did not feel very nice or comfortable: washed cotton or linen, wool, etc. He often woke up at night and started crying. His skin was red and there was a rash on his arms and back. Of course, I focused on the medical symptoms first. I suggested that they should consult a doctor. Perhaps the child was allergic to some fabrics, or even substances that products such as washing powder or soap often contain. As for cot bedding sets, I adviced them to get a set of organic cotton bedding and see if their child could tolerate that. Linen is also a good choice. However, I added that they should avoid synthetic fabrics that are not very easy to keep clean and do not provide enough air flow. They haven"t contacted me since then, but I hope that their son is much better now.
